The smooth curves and fine details in the paintings of bears, rhinoceroses and horses in the Chauvet cave in southern Frances picturesque Ardeche region are so advanced that some scholars believe they date from 12,000 to 17,000 years ago.
That would place them as relics of the Magdalenian culture, in which human ancestors used tools of stone and bone and created increasingly advanced art as time went on.
But scientists have previously shown through radiocarbon dating evidence of rock art, charcoal and animal bones in the Chauvet cave that the drawings are older than that, likely between 30,000-32,000 years old, befuddling some who believed that early art took on more primitive...

Yesterday, we sadly lost the legendary Dick Clark who will always be remembered for his work on “American Bandstand” and helping others ring in the New Year by hosting his famous “Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve” show. However, he will never be forgotten for his charitable work, his love for animals and for just being an inspiration.
No matter how much work he had, Clark never missed an opportunity to spend time with his animals. According to The Pet Press, while visiting Dick Clark’s production offices in 2001, his dogs were seen resting and walking amongst the commotion. They were part of the office crew.

While there is no way to know where and when to be ready for a travel disaster, these eight apps can solve the problem of how. These apps will prepare you for the worst case scenarios and could end up saving your life when youre in uncharted territory.
Pocket First Aid CPR
This app from the American Heart Association is a literal lifesaver. When Dan Woolley of Colorado Springs was caught in the collapse of the Hotel Montana in Port-au-Prince after the Haiti earthquake, he used the app to diagnose and treat injuries to his foot and head.
I kind of had some time to do some self-diagnosis down there, Woolley told NBC. God was with me.

The yellow school bus zoomed up and over the Robert F. Kennedy Bridge, through a ragged row of tired factories and lonely playing fields and past an eerily well-kept mini golf course before coming to a halt a stone’s throw from a massive white tent. There, I wavered under the damp East River breeze, anchored a few hundred yards off of Manhattan on Randall’s Island, for Frieze. The cultural Babylon seemed to be erected as a newfound art Mecca, one that the bespectacled Austrian across the aisle from me would now count among his yearly pilgrimages. The behemoth beckoned and we came.
This was my first fair–art fair, that is. Throughout the course of my young life, I have...

PROVIDENCE, RI — The House Chamber and State House corridors filled up Monday with 150 students from Providence schools who came to pitch ideas for making their city a better place to live.
The ideas included tackling environmental safety, gang violence, prostitution, NECAP testing and teenage obesity.
The presentations were part of school partnerships with Generation Citizen, a program founded in 2008 by Scott Warren, then a Brown University senior. Education Commissioner Deborah Gist, Mayor Angel Taveras, Rep. David N. Cicilline and Warren attended the event.
Taveras told the students to take advantage of their education, and to stay engaged and become leaders....
