Rabid Skunk and Bull Confirmed in Boone County, AR 2012/02/16 at 2:04 am

(Everton, AR)–The Arkansas Department of Health is issuing some tips after a bull dies of rabies.
It happened near Everton in Boone County earlier this week.

Officials in Arkansas say rabies in most often found in skunks.

A rabid skunk was discovered in January on property adjacent to the farm on which the rabid bull became ill and died

Rabies is a virus that attacks the brain and spinal cord and is a fatal disease.

To protect against rabies, health officials say make certain your animals are up-to-date on vaccinations.

Do not feed or touch wild animals.

Keep your pets indoors overnight.
