Physical activities not only keep a person fit and healthy but also reduce the chances of developing obesity. People who perform less physical activity are at a greater risk of developing obesity and other health complications.
The Seventh National Nutrition Survey carried out by the Food and Nutrition Research Institute of the Department of Science and Technology (FNRI-DOST) in 2008 has claimed that Filipinos who are twenty years old and above perform less physical activity.
About 94.5% of the people perform low travel-related physical activity like walking or cycling that are required to travel from one place to another. About 92.75 of the people perform low leisure-related physical activity and all kinds of exercise. Some 75.4% of the people were found not be involved in non-work related physical activity and 76.3% perform low work-related physical activity.
It could be concluded from the survey that the Filipino adults are generally inactive. Researchers advise that in order to lose weight one must combine regular physical activity with a healthy diet plan.
Research suggest the people that a thirty minutes of jogging or walking everyday or even just three times a week is enough to say physically activity.
