North Dakota issues revised withholding tables for 2011

North Dakota has issued revised withholding tables due the recent changes in the income tax rates, retroactively effective to January 1, 2011 (see CCH PAYROLL MANAGEMENT GUIDE Report Letter 2198, dated May 10, 2011). The percentage method tables are reproduced in this Report Letter on pages 11—14. All of the tables will be reproduced in the CCH PAYROLL MANAGEMENT GUIDE on CD Rom/Internet in a future release at ¶7618 and ¶7619. The supplemental wage rate is now 2.82%.

According to the state, although the lower rates are in effect for the entire year, there is no need to try to adjust the state withholding to counteract several months of applying the higher rates. Employers are advised to use the tables going forward as they calculate their payroll. (2011 Income Tax Withholding Rates amp; Instructions Paid in 2011; http://www.nd.gov/tax/.)
